Upload Auto Captions from Zoom Cloud to TechSmith Knowmia Video

These instructions will guide you through how to import the Zoom auto-captions to a TechSmith Knowmia video

Zoom now has the ability to auto caption a live Zoom meeting. If you record to the Zoom Cloud, the video will automatically upload to your TechSmith Knowmia library but the captions will not. You can wait and caption the video once it is in Knowmia, or you can upload the caption file created by Zoom and import it into Knowmia.

Auto captioning takes some time. You will receive an email stating when your captions are ready. In the meantime, you can still edit your video in Knowmia (it is recommended to trim off any silence at the beginning of your video prior to adding captions.) You may also move the video to a new folder and link the video at this time. Captioning will not be affected by this. Once you have received the email:

In Zoom

1. Log into Zoom at https://siue.zoom.us/.

2. Click on Recordings in the Menu.

3. Locate the recording. Click on 3 Files in the File Size column.

4. If Auto transcript states “Transcribing” you will have to wait and return when the transcription is complete. You will receive an email when it is complete.

When the transcript is complete, click on the Auto Transcript link or the download arrow.
