This article explains how instructors can use the Bulk Edit feature in Blackboard Ultra to manage course availability and other settings.

All course content will appear in a table view similar to the Course Content page.

Editing Dates in Bulk

Batch Edit allows you to modify dates only for items that already have dates set.

  1. Select the items you want to update.
  2. Choose Edit Dates at the bottom of the screen.
  3. In the Edit Type section, select one of the following options:
    • Change to specific date and/or time
    • Change dates by number of days (shifts dates forward or backward)
    • Change dates based on course start
  4. Select Edit Dates to apply your changes.

When adjusting dates in learning modules with forced sequencing, the order of items may appear to change in Batch Edit. This does not necessarily reflect the actual display order on the Course Content page.

Editing Visibility in Bulk

You can quickly hide or show multiple items for students.

  1. Use the check boxes to select the desired items to modify visibility.
  2. Click Edit visibility
  3. Set the items to Visible to students or Hidden from students.
  4. Click Save Visibility to apply the changes.

Deleting Multiple Items

Batch Edit also allows for bulk deletion of content.

  1. Use the check boxes to select the items you want to remove from your content.
  2. Click Delete items.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. This includes student submissions associated with assessments.

Important Considerations

  • Changes made using Bulk Edit are applied immediately.
  • Review your selections carefully before saving to avoid unintended changes.
  • Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Best Practices

  • Use Batch Edit after a course copy to quickly align dates with the new term
  • Double-check your selections, especially when working with folders and learning modules.
  • Avoid bulk deletion unless you are certain the content is no longer needed.
  • Review visibility settings before making a course available to students.
