Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Content Collection: Access and Download Documents from the My Content Area

This article outlines how faculty can access the My Content area within Blackboard Ultra's Content Collection and download documents stored there.

What is the Content Collection?

The Content Collection is a communal space for storing, sharing, and publishing digital content in personal, course, and institution folders. When you edit something in the Content Collection, it will update and appear throughout your work. Set permissions and send passes to grant access to content you permit to be shared.

Accessing the Content Collection

The Content Collection is a file repository available in Blackboard. To access the Content Collection:

  1. Log in to Blackboard Ultra.
  2. In the left-hand navigation menu, click on Tools.
  3. Click on Content Collection.

  4. Once in the Content Collection, select My Content on the left-side navigation.

Uploading Content to My Content Area:

To upload a document to your My Content Area:

  1. In the Content Collection, select My Content under Files.
  2. Click Create Folder to organize and share your content easily.
  3. Click Upload.
  4. Select Upload Files or Upload Zip Package, depending on the file type.
  5. Click Browse Local Files to open the file upload screen on your computer or device.
  6. Locate and select the file you want to upload. Click Open.
  7. Rename the file in the "Link Title" text box and review the check-box items

    The file name appears and a textbox to change the link text. There are several options with check boxes to opt in. The Save button is on the bottom right.

  8. Click Submit. Your file now appears in the MyContent area. 

Downloading Documents from My Content

The "My Content" area displays the folders and files you have stored. To download a document:

  1. Locate the document you wish to download.
  2. Hover over the document name.
  3. Click the Action Link (downward facing arrow) next to the document name.
  4. Select Download Package from the menu.
  5. Your browser will initiate the download of the file. The location of the download will depend on your browser settings.

Downloading Multiple Documents

You can download multiple documents at once as a ZIP file.

  1. Navigate to the My Content area.
  2. Select the check box beside each file you want to download.
  3. Click the Download Package button in the menu above the file list.
  4. A ZIP file containing the selected documents will be downloaded to your computer.
