Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Gradebook: Add New Category
This article explains how to add a new category to the Blackboard Ultra Gradebook to organize and manage grading.
Add a New Category to the Gradebook
Categories in the Blackboard Ultra Gradebook allow instructors to group similar things together together. This can help with organization and can also be used for weighting grades.
Add New Category
To add a new category:
- Navigate to your Blackboard Ultra course.
- In the Course, click on the Gradebook tab.
- In the Gradebook tab, click the Settings icon (gear icon) in the upper-right corner.
- Scroll down Gradebook Settings to the "Grade Categories" header.
- Locate and click on the Add New Category button.

- Enter a name for the category in the "Type a category name" field.
