Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Gradebook: Drop Lowest or Highest Grade

This article explains how instructors can drop the lowest or highest grades for specific categories in the Blackboard Ultra Gradebook.

Dropping the Lowest or Highest Grade in Blackboard Ultra

Blackboard Ultra allows instructors to automatically drop the lowest or highest grades within a specific Gradebook category. This can be useful for accommodating student absences or unexpected poor performance on a particular assignment. In order to drop the lowest or highest grade, the assessments must be grouped by category.

Steps to Drop a Grade

  1. Navigate to the Gradebook in your Blackboard Ultra course. Click on the Grades tab.
  2. Click on the Overall Grade column and choose Edit.

  3. Locate the assessment category in which you would like to drop a grade and choose Edit calculation rules.

  4. Toggle Enable and select the Drop Scores radio button. Type a 1 in the box to drop the lowest score(s). Alternatively, you can opt to drop the highest score. Click Continue to save the changes
