Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Gradebook: Grading Color Codes

This article explains the meaning of the color codes displayed in the Blackboard Ultra gradebook, used for grading items.

Blackboard Ultra Gradebook Color Codes

Blackboard Ultra uses a color-coded system in the Gradebook to provide visual cues about the grading status of submitted assignments. Understanding these colors can help instructors quickly identify which submissions need attention. This color coding is visible in the Grades tab: the grid view of all students and all items in the Gradebook.

Color Code Meanings

  • Green: The submission has been graded, and feedback has been posted.
  • Purple: Indicates that a student has submitted work that is ready to be graded, but it has not yet been reviewed.
  • Red: The student has received an automatic zero.
  • No Color: No submission has been made by the student.

By referencing these color codes, faculty can efficiently manage their grading responsibilities and ensure timely feedback is provided to students.
