Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Groups: Editing Group Settings
This article describes how faculty can edit the settings of existing groups in Blackboard Ultra courses.
Editing Group Settings
Instructors can modify the settings of existing groups and group sets within their Blackboard Ultra courses. This includes changing the group set name, group name, description, membership, and availability. Here's how:
- Navigate to your Blackboard Ultra course and select the Groups tab from the top navigation menu.
- Select the group set you want to edit.
Group Settings Options
The following settings can be edited:
Edit Group Set Name and Availability
- Change the group set name to something more descriptive or relevant by clicking on the pencil icon.
- Select Visibility from the drop-down options.

Edit Group Name or Description
- Change the group's name to something more descriptive or relevant by clicking on the pencil icon.
- Add or modify a description to provide context or instructions for the group. This description is visible to all group members.

Add or Delete a Group from the Set
- Add a new group to the group set using the plus sign between the existing groups.
- Delete a group from the set using the ellipses (3-dot) menu on that group and selecting Delete group.

Membership
- Add Students: Select the student from unassigned students or from a student who is already in a group and select the group to enroll that student in using the options from the ellipses (3-dot) menu.

- Remove Students: Select the student listed under the group, and select to unassign them or move them to a different group using the options from the ellipses (3-dot) menu.

After making your desired changes, click Save to apply the new settings.
