Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Messages: Sending a Message

This article explains how faculty can send messages to students within a Blackboard Ultra course.

Sending a Message in Blackboard Ultra

Blackboard Ultra allows instructors to send messages to students within their courses. These messages are private and can be sent to individual students or groups of students.

Steps to Send a Message

  1. Access your Blackboard Ultra course.
  2. From the course navigation menu, click the Messages icon in the navigation bar.

  3. On the Messages page, click the New Message button (located in the upper right corner) to compose a new message.

  4. Choose the recipients. You can select individual students or groups.
  5. Type your message in the text box.
  6. Optionally, you can attach a file to the message by clicking the paper clip icon in the text box toolbar.

  7. Click Send, located in the lower right corner.

Additional Information

  • You can view sent messages on the Messages page.
  • Students will receive a notification in their Activity Stream when they receive a new message.
  • Messages are private and can only be seen by the sender and recipients.
