Blackboard Ultra (Students) - Messages: Send a Course Message

This article details how students can send messages to instructors and classmates within a Blackboard Ultra course.

Sending a Course Message

Students can send messages to instructors and other students directly within a Blackboard Ultra course. This feature allows for quick communication without leaving the course environment.

Steps to Send a Message:

  1. Access the course in Blackboard Ultra.
  2. In the Course Content area, click the Messages icon in the top navigation, or click the envelope icon next to the course faculty on the Content page.

Next to the course faculty name is an envelope icon you can click to send a message.

  3. On the Messages page, click the New Message icon to create a new message.

The horizontal navigation bar has the third from the right option highlighted: Messages. Below that on the right is a rectangular button with an envelope icon labeled new message.

  4. A "New Message" panel will appear. Select the recipients by clicking the recipients you wish to add to the message.
  5. Type your message in the text box.
  6. Click Send.

Additional Information:

  • You can attach files to your messages by clicking the Attach File icon (paper clip) in the message composition area.
  • All course members will be able to see all the messages within that course in the messages area.
