Blackboard Ultra (All Users) - Hyperlink Text in the Text Editor
This article explains how to insert, edit, and remove hyperlinks within the Blackboard Ultra text editor.
Inserting a Hyperlink
To insert a hyperlink into your text:
- Open the text editor in a content area in Blackboard Ultra.
- Type the text you want to turn into a hyperlink.

- Highlight the text.
- Click the Insert/Edit link button (it looks like a chain link).

- In the pop-up window, enter the full URL (including
https://) in the "Link URL" field. - The text you highlighted will be displayed in the "Link Text" field.
- Click Insert on the pop-up, and Save the document or item you were editing.

Editing a Hyperlink
To edit an existing hyperlink:
- Click the hyperlinked text so your cursor is within it.
- Click the Link button (it looks like a chain link).
- In the pop-up window, modify the "Link URL" or the "Link Text" as needed.
- Click Save on the pop-up, and Save the document or item you were editing.

Removing a Hyperlink
To remove a hyperlink:
- Click on the hyperlinked text so your cursor is within it.
- Click the Link button (it looks like a chain link).
- In the pop-up window, delete the text in the "Link URL" field.
- Click Save on the pop-up, and Save the document or item you were editing.

Accessibility Considerations
When creating hyperlinks, it is important to consider accessibility. Follow these guidelines to make your links accessible:
- Use descriptive text: The hyperlinked text should clearly indicate the destination of the link. Avoid generic phrases like "click here."
- Avoid displaying raw URLs: Instead of displaying the full URL, use the "Link Text field to provide a meaningful description.
- Test your links: After creating a link, verify that it leads to the correct destination.
