This article explains how faculty can use rubrics to grade assignments in Blackboard Ultra.
Grading with a Rubric
The rubric displays in a panel next to the submission content. You can expand the description of each criterion to give your feedback. A rubric may use points, percentages, or be point-free. Point-free rubrics display feedback only.
Using a Rubric to Grade a Submission
- Navigate to the assignment you'd like to grade Blackboard Ultra on your Course Content page.
- The rubric must be attached to the assignment before grading begins. Please refer to
- Click on the title of the assignment or assessment to open the Assignment Settings.
- Select the Submissions tab.
- Click the row of the user's submission to grade.
- Use the panel on the right side to select the appropriate rubric values. The grade will automatically calculate at the top.

- The grade will save automatically. You can also add written feedback at the top.
- To post the grade to the Gradebook, click the ellipsis (3 dots) in the upper right corner and select Post grade.
