Blackboard Ultra (Students) - Tests and Surveys: Taking a Test, Quiz, or Survey
This article provides students with instructions on how to access, take, and submit tests, quizzes, and surveys in Blackboard Ultra courses.
Accessing the Test
Tests, quizzes, and surveys are located within the Blackboard Ultra course. The instructor may include them in various areas, such as:
- Within the course content, alongside other learning materials.
- In a dedicated "Tests & Quizzes" or "Assessments" section.
- Linked within a module or learning unit.
To locate a test, quiz, or survey:
- Log in to Blackboard at bb.siue.edu.
- Select the desired course from the "Courses" list or the "Organizations" list.
- Browse the course content to locate the test, quiz, or survey link. The icon for a test or quiz typically resembles a paper with a checkmark. A survey icon may vary.
- Click the test, quiz, or survey link to begin.
Taking the Test
Once you access the test, review the instructions carefully. Note the following:
- Time Limit: Is there a time limit? If so, the timer will begin as soon as the test is started.
- Attempts Allowed: How many attempts are allowed?
- Due Date: When is the test due?
- Grading Criteria: How will the test be graded?
When you are ready to begin:
- Click "Start Attempt" (or similar button) to begin the test.

- Answer each question. Students may encounter various question types, such as multiple choice, true/false, essay, fill-in-the-blank, and matching.
- Answers will be automatically saved.
- Review the answers before submitting.
Submitting the Test
When the test is complete:
- Click "Submit".

- Confirm the submission when prompted. Some tests may require you to click "Submit" a second time to finalize the submission.

- Review the submission confirmation. A message will be displayed indicating that the test has been successfully submitted. Students may also receive an email confirmation.

Troubleshooting
- Internet Connection: Ensure there is a stable internet connection before and during the test.
- Browser Compatibility: Use a supported browser, such as Chrome or Firefox.
- Technical Issues: If technical issues arise during the test, contact the instructor immediately and provide details about the problem. Take screenshots if possible.
