Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Tests, Forms, and Pools: Edit Test Options and Questions
This article explains how to edit test options and questions in Blackboard Ultra courses. This includes both settings and content for deployed assessments.
Editing Test Options
After you have created a test, you can modify the test options. This includes settings such as due dates, time limits, and attempts allowed.
- Navigate to your course in Blackboard Ultra.
- Locate the test you wish to edit on the Course Content page.
- Click the test title.
- In the upper-right corner, click the gear icon to access the Assessment Settings panel.
- Modify the desired settings. Options include:
- Due Date: Set a deadline for the test, submission timing and class conversations.
- Presentation Options: Choose how questions are displayed to the student.
- Time Limit: Set a time limit for students to complete the test.
- Attempts Allowed: Specify the number of attempts students can make.
- Grading Options: Configure grading settings, such as anonymous grading.
- Assessment Security: Enable options like Respondus LockDown Browser if available.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
Editing Test Questions
You can edit the questions within a test even after students have started taking it. However, any changes made after students submit the test might affect the grading.
- Navigate to your course in Blackboard Ultra.
- Locate the test you wish to edit.
- Click the test title.
- If students have not yet submitted their attempts, you can click the Edit option on the test's content page. This will return you to the test creation/editing interface.
- If students have submitted attempts, you will first see the submissions page. Click the test title again.
- The test will open. You can now:
- Add new questions by hovering under Test Content until the + (plus) sign appears.
- Edit existing questions by accessing the breadcrumb menu on the right and chose Edit.
- Delete questions (with caution if submissions exist).
- Reorder questions by dragging and dropping.
- Make the necessary changes to the question text, answer choices, or correct answer.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
Important Considerations When Editing Questions After Submissions:
- Changing the correct answer to a question will automatically update the grades for all submitted attempts. Review the changes carefully.
- Deleting a question after submissions exist will remove the points associated with that question from all submitted attempts.
- Adding a question after submissions requires manual grading of that question for each submitted attempt.
- Review Visible to Students tab in the top right corner.
