Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Tests, Forms, and Pools: Copying an Assessment to Another Course

This article explains how to export tests, surveys, and pools from a Blackboard Ultra course and import them into another.

To copy an assessment used in a previous semester's course or duplicated in more than one section in the same semester, create the test once and copy it into a different course.

Copying Assessments

  1. Navigate to the Course Content page in the desired Blackboard Ultra course.
  2. Click the plus sign (+) in the preferred location on the Course Content page.
  3. Select Copy Content from the drop-down menu.

The third item in the drop-down menu is the Copy Content option.

  4. Select the checkbox next to the course where the original assessment link is located to copy all assessments. To select a specific assessment, click the arrow on the right to drill down to see all items in that course. Then select the checkbox next to the item to copy.

A list of courses with checkboxes to the left and an arrow on the right.

  5. Select the assessment and click the Start Copy button on the lower right.

  6. You may need to refresh your screen, but the test will appear where you selected. Click on the ellipsis (...) to edit the settings for the course.

Copying Question Pools and Question Banks

  1. Navigate to the current course.
  2. Click on the ellipsis (...) to the right of Course Content and select Copy Items.
  3. Browse to the course where the pools or question banks are located. Click on the arrow to drill down.
  4. Select the checkbox next to Question Banks to copy all the pools, or click on the arrow again and select individual pools.

A list of course items to copy includes a checkbox to the left and an arrow to the right.

  5. Click Start Copy.
  6. The question banks or pools will now be available in your course to use when building a test or quiz.

Important Considerations

  • Ensure that the destination course is a Blackboard Ultra course. Exported packages from Ultra are not compatible with older Blackboard Learn courses.
  • Large test banks may take some time to import.
  • Check the copied test or survey to ensure all questions and settings are correctly configured.
