Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Tests, Forms, and Pools: Grading a Test
This article outlines the process of grading a test in Blackboard Ultra.
Grading a Test in Blackboard Ultra
After students submit tests in Blackboard Ultra, instructors need to grade them. Here's how:
- Locate the test within the course content.

- Click the test title to open the test, then click "submissions."

- On the "Submissions" page, you will see a list of all student submissions. You can sort submissions by name, student status, or grading status.

- To begin grading, click a student's name or the "Needs Grading" status associated with their submission. This will open the attempt.

- Review the student's answers. Blackboard Ultra will automatically score questions that are graded automatically (e.g., multiple choice, true/false). For essay questions or other questions requiring manual grading.
- Type feedback directly into the "Feedback" area for each question.

- Enter a point value for the question in the "Score" field.

- In the "Overall Feedback" area, you can provide general comments on the student's performance on the test.

- Enter the overall grade for the test in the "Grade" field.

- Click the Save button to save your grading progress and continue grading later.
- Click the Post button to release the grade and feedback to the student. The student will not see the grade until you post it.

- To move to the next student's submission, use the arrows at the top of the screen to navigate between attempts.

Overriding a Grade
You can override a grade if necessary. To do so:
- Navigate to the graded test attempt.
- In the "Grade" field, click on the existing grade.

- Enter the new grade.
- The grade will save automatically.
