Blackboard Ultra (Students) - Turnitin Assignments: Submitting a Turnitin Assignment

Turnitin is an intellectual property verification tool that includes features for grading and reviewing student assignments. As a plagiarism checker, Turnitin flags text that has been identified as closely matching other online resources, including student-submitted work and published articles; displays possible sources where that text is located; and indicates the percentage of a paper that is attributable to other sources. This document provides an overview of how to submit a Turnitin assignment in Blackboard Ultra courses.

Submitting a Turnitin Assignment

Follow these steps to submit your Turnitin assignment within Blackboard Ultra:

  1. Log in to Blackboard Ultra and navigate to your course. Locate the Turnitin assignment link within your course content. It might be located in a module, learning unit, or within the "Assignments" section.
  2. Click the Turnitin assignment link. Review the assignment details, including the due date, instructions, and point value.

  3. Click Launch on the right side of the screen to access the Turnitin submission area.

  4. Click the blue Upload Submission button to upload your assignment. You can upload files from your computer or cloud storage.

  5. Click Browse and choose your file to upload. You can also enter a title for your submission in the "Submission Title" field. After you select your file, click the blue Upload and Review button

  6. Review your submission and click Submit to Turnitin to finalize your submission.

  7. When the window closes, you will see your paper title. Click on the paper icon to the far right to download your digital receipt. Save this PDF receipt as your proof that you submitted the paper. You may also receive an email with confirmation of the submission.

Viewing Your Similarity Report

After submitting, it may take some time for Turnitin to generate a Similarity Report. Once available:

  1. Return to the Turnitin assignment link in Blackboard and locate your submission.
  2. Click on the Similarity score to view the report. This will open the report in a new window or tab.

  3. Review the Similarity Report carefully to understand potential areas of concern so you can edit your paper accordingly.

Resubmitting an Assignment

Depending on your instructor's settings, you may be able to edit and resubmit your assignment before the due date. To resubmit:

  1. Return to the Turnitin assignment link in Blackboard and locate your previous submission.
  2. Click the Resubmit button (if available).

  3. Follow the same submission steps outlined above.

Note: Resubmissions may take up to 24 hours to generate a new Similarity Report.
