Accessing Your Turnitin Originality Report

To view your Turnitin Originality Report within Blackboard Ultra:

1. Open the Blackboard Ultra course containing the Turnitin assignment.
2. Locate and click on the specific Turnitin assignment. Click on the View Submission button. 
3. If your instructor has enabled the originality report feature, you will see a percentage match score. Click on the score to view your originality report in a new tab. The report will highlight sections of your submission that match other sources in the Turnitin database.
   
   

Understanding the Similarity Score

The similarity score in Turnitin is a percentage indicating the amount of text in your submission that matches text found in other sources. A high similarity score does not automatically mean plagiarism. It could indicate properly cited quotes, common phrases, or similarities to course materials. Review the Originality Report carefully to determine if the matches are legitimate or require revision.

Late Submissions

Turnitin's handling of late submissions is determined by the instructor's settings within Blackboard Ultra. If late submissions are allowed, you may be able to submit after the due date. However, the submission will be marked as late. Contact your instructor if you have questions about their late submission policy.

Resubmitting Assignments

Whether or not you can resubmit an assignment to Turnitin is determined by your instructor's settings. Some instructors may allow multiple submissions, while others may only allow one. Check the assignment instructions or contact your instructor to clarify the resubmission policy. If resubmissions are allowed, keep in mind that new originality reports may take time to generate.

Instructor Feedback

To view feedback from your instructor on a Turnitin assignment:

1. Open the Blackboard Ultra course.
2. Navigate to the graded Turnitin assignment.
3. Click on the assignment to view your grade and any feedback provided. The feedback and commenting tools in Blackboard Ultra are the same for faculty regardless of the Turnitin settings. You will see any scoring, rubrics, or feedback scores from the View Submission button once your grade has been posted. 

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Cannot Access Turnitin Assignment

If you cannot access a Turnitin assignment, ensure that:

• The assignment is currently available. 
• You are enrolled in the correct Blackboard Ultra course.
• Your browser is up to date.
• You have a stable internet connection.

Originality Report Not Generating

If the originality report is not generating, it may be due to:

• High Turnitin server load (try again later).
• A very large file size (reduce the file size and resubmit if possible).
• The instructor has not enabled the Originality Report.

If the issue persists, contact your instructor or the ITS Help Desk for assistance.
