Understanding User Roles in Blackboard Ultra
Blackboard Ultra offers various user roles within a course, each with distinct permissions and access levels. Assigning appropriate roles ensures efficient course management and targeted access for different individuals. The following roles are available:
Instructor
Instructors have full access to the course and can manage all aspects, including:
- Creating and managing content
- Grading assignments
- Communicating with students
- Modifying course settings
- Adding or removing users
Teaching Assistant (TA)
Teaching Assistants assist the instructor with course management and grading. Their permissions can be customized by the instructor but typically include:
- Grading assignments
- Creating and managing content (with instructor permission)
- Communicating with students
Grader
Graders primarily focus on grading assignments and providing feedback to students. They typically do not have access to course management or content creation features.They cannot access the course if it has been made unavailable to students.
Course Builder
Course Builders can create and manage course content but do not have access to student grades or course management settings. This role is useful for individuals who assist with developing or reviewing course materials.
Student
Students have access to viewing course content, assignments, and communication tools. They can submit assignments, participate in discussions, and view their grades.
