Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Discussions: Delete a Discussion Post or Reply

This article explains how instructors can delete a discussion post or a Reply in Blackboard Ultra.

Deleting a Discussion Post or Reply

Instructors can delete a discussion post or a reply in Blackboard Ultra.

  1. In a Discussion, locate the post or reply to delete, and then click the ellipses (...).

An image with the ellipses (...) for a post circled in red.

  2. Click Delete.

An image with the delete menu option circled in red.

  3. A confirmation message will appear. Click Delete to confirm. (optional) To delete all additional replies associated with the initial post, click the checkbox that says "Delete all replies to this response".

An image with the confirmation delete button circled in red.

Important Considerations

  • Deleting a post or a reply removes it, but leaves behind a message in its place that states "This response has been deleted by ...".
  • This action is irreversible. Once a post is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
  • Consider the impact that this will have on the student and their participation.
