E-Lert - Unsubscribe from Emergency Alerts
E-Lert: SIUE's emergency notification system, which sends urgent text messages and emails about campus safety, weather, and closures.
There are three ways to be removed from E-Lert. The fastest option is the self-service portal, which works any time as long as the E-ID and password are known.
Option 1: Opt Out Through the Self-Service Portal
Use this method if the E-ID and password are available.
- Open the SIUE E-Lert page.
- Click Sign-up now.
- Enter the E-ID and password.
- Click opt-out.
- Click continue.
Option 2: Reply "unsubscribe" After a Recent Alert
This option only works within 8 hours of receiving an E-Lert text message.
- Open the most recent E-Lert text message on the phone receiving the alerts.
- Reply to the message with the word
unsubscribe.
A verification email and text message will arrive the next business day to confirm the removal.
Option 3: Request Removal Through the ITS Help Desk
If the E-ID and password are not available and it has been more than 8 hours since the last E-Lert, the ITS Help Desk can submit a removal request.
- Call (618) 650-5500 during regular business hours from the phone number that is receiving the E-Lert messages.
- The Help Desk will verify the calling number against the caller ID and submit a ticket for an administrator to remove your number.
