OneDrive (All Users) - Issues viewing videos linked from OneDrive

This document provides an overview of an issue some users experience when trying to access videos linked from a OneDrive account.

Occasionally users click a link that should take them to a video (stored in OneDrive), but they either get a black screen (Mac/Firefox) or the video attempts to open in Windows Media Player but never plays (PC/Internet Explorer).

For PC/Internet Explorer users:

Use a browser other than Internet Explorer. Internet Explore is no longer a supported browser and will continue to cause errors.

For Mac users on Firefox:

Adjust Firefox permissions to allow Silverlight by following these steps:

  1. Click the security icon in the browser's URL bar (triangle with exclamation mark)

  2. Click More Information
    mac firefox

  3. On the next screen, under the Permissions tab, look for Silverlight in the list of applications

  4. Click the Allow button next to Silverlight
    silverlight settings in firefox (mac)

  5. Restart Firefox when finished and access video link
