Blackboard (Students) - Tasks: About Tasks

This document provides an overview of tasks.

Tasks is a tool that allows students to keep track of what is to be completed in a course. Instructors can set course tasks or students can create personal tasks.

Adding the My Task Module

In order to view the My Task module, you will need to add it within your myBlackboard page. To do this, you will need to click on the Add Module tab.

In the next page, type in My Tasks within the search bar and click on the Go button.

The page will display the My Task module information. Click on the Add button.

The page will display a highlighted message, indicating the module has been added into your myBlackboard page.


From within a Course, in the Course Menu. Your instructor may add a Tasks link directly to the Course Menu, in a Content Area, or folder.

Task List

From the My Task module, the task displays:

  • The title of the task with a hyperlink to the task
  • The location of the task, personal or within a course.

Note: If you click on the more task... link, you will be able to create your own personal task.

My task module

From the Task link within a course menu (if available), the task displays:

  • The title of the task with a hyperlink to the task
  • The priority of the task: high, normal, or low
  • Due date of the task
  • Task status
