Blackboard (Faculty) - Third Party Content: Hiding the RedShelf Tool in the Course Menu

This document provides an overview of changing the availability of the RedShelf tool within a Blackboard course menu.

RedShelf, the platform for many digital textbooks, is a third-party tool link within the navigation menu of all Blackboard courses created since 3/1/2019. Beginning with course shells created in Spring 2022, the Blackboard menu will include the RedShelf link, and it will be visible to students by default.

If your course does not use a digital textbook on the RedShelf platform, follow these steps to hide the tool link so it is not visible to your students:

1. Locate the tool link in the left navigation menu. Click on the arrow to the right of the the RedShelf link to access the tool link edit menu.

2. Click Hide Link to change the availability of the tool. It will now be hidden from users.

3. Should you decide that the RedShelf link should be visible to users again, repeat Step 1 above and choose Show Link instead.
