Blackboard (Faculty) - Restore a Course in Blackboard (removed as part of 5 + 1 retention practice)
This document provides an overview of how to request to restore a course that was removed as part of the 5 + 1 retention practice.
SIUE adopted a Blackboard retention practice beginning in June 2021 to reduce the amount of contracted storage space needed in Bb and to improve the overall efficiency of the learning management system. The new practice is a 5 + 1 model, where course shells from the previous 5 semesters plus shells from the current semester will be retained in Bb. Additional information about the 5 + 1 model, including which semesters are currently available in Bb, is available at: https://www.siue.edu/its/bb/5-plus-1.shtml.
Faculty who need access to a course that is no longer in Bb can request to have that course temporarily restored in Bb. Once the course is restored, faculty will be able to create their own backup or retrieve needed content from the course shell. To help manage storage needs, restored course shells will only be available for a limited time before being removed from Bb. To request a course be restored, use the form located at: https://forms.office.com/r/ULELMEceua.
