SPSS Licensing Issue with MacOS Sonoma

If you encounter an SPSS license error while running it on MacOS Sonoma, you might be unable to proceed beyond the license dialogue box. SPSS Statistics does not currently have official support for MacOS Sonoma. However, an interim fix has been released by IBM to enable SPSS to function on Sonoma.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Close all instances of SPSS.
  2. Open Finder and navigate to:
    /Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/SPSS Statistics.app/Contents/lib/libplatdep.dylib
    • To access this directory, right-click on SPSS Statistics.app and select "Show Contents."
  3. Locate and delete the file named libplatdep.dylib
  4. Download the replacement file from this link: SPSS Sonoma Fix
  5. Move the downloaded file with the same name (libplatdep.dylib) to the directory mentioned above.
  6. Launch SPSS to check if the issue has been resolved.
