Microsoft Teams - Enable Transcription

This document describes how to enable Teams automatic transcription. Transcription allows user to have a written record of spoken text captured during the meeting. After the meeting ends, the transcript can be downloaded through the Meeting recap.

As the organizer of the meeting:

  1. Start the Teams meeting.
  2. Click the More button on the Teams control bar.

  3. Click Record and transcribe.

  4. Click Start transcription.
    1. If you click Start recording, it will automatically start the transcription too.

  5. A pop-up window to select the spoken language will appear. Click the Confirm button to confirm your language choice.

  6. A confirmation message will appear at the top of the window saying ‘Transcription has started’ and the Transcription box will appear on the right side of your Meeting window.

  7. After the meeting ends, you will be able to download the Transcript from the Meeting recap window in Teams.
