Microsoft Word offers several ways to get help and support when you encounter issues or want to learn new features. This guide will help you navigate the various support resources available within the application and online.

Using Word's Built-in Help Feature

Microsoft Word includes a comprehensive built-in help system that you can access directly from the application.

  1. Click on the Help tab in the ribbon.
  2. Select Help to open the Help pane.
  3. Alternatively, press F1 on your keyboard to quickly open the Help pane.
  4. Type your question or keywords in the search box at the top of the Help pane.
  5. Press Enter or click the search icon to view relevant help topics.

Note: The Help feature requires an internet connection to display the most current information.

Using the "Tell Me" Feature

The "Tell Me" feature in Word provides quick access to commands and help information.  Depending on what version of Word you have it may be a search box.

  1. Click in the "Tell me what you want to do" box (or press Alt+Q).
  2. Type a task, command, or question.
  3. Select from the suggested options to:
    • Execute a command directly
    • Open help content related to your query
    • Get smart lookup information on a topic

  1. Open your web browser.

  3. Use the search box to find specific topics or browse the categories provided.

Microsoft Community Forums

Engage with other Word users and Microsoft experts in the community forums.

  1. Go to https://answers.microsoft.com/msoffice.
  2. Select the Word category.
  3. Search for existing questions similar to yours or click Ask a question to post a new inquiry.

Help Feature Not Loading
