  6. Give your rubric a title and choose your rubric type. There are four types to choose from. Click the links below for more detailed setup instructions for each type.
    • Weighted: matrix-style rubric with weighted criteria for balanced grading, which allows you to enter scale values and criteria percentages.
    • Qualitative: matrix-style rubric without numeric scoring that works well for formative assessments and can be used for providing feedback without the use of numerical scoring
    • Custom: matrix-style rubric where the values in each criterion scale box are customizable.
    • Grading Form: a grading list with simple scoring and reusable comments for faster grading that can be used for providing feedback with or without the use of numerical scoring or scaled criteria.
  7. Once you have chosen your rubric type, scroll down to customize the number of rows and columns needed. Then, click Next.
  8. In the next window, you will be prompted to set up the grading criteria and point values for each row/column of the rubric. When you're done building the rubric, click Save.
  9. After saving your new rubric, you will return to your Rubrics tab. From there, select the new rubric and click Save Assignment. That rubric will now be associated with your Turnitin assignment.
