Network Device and Game Console Registration

This document provides an overview of registering and connecting devices to the SIUE Network.

Issue: How do I register and connect my game console, streaming device, or smart TV to the SIUE network?
Note: The SIUE Network does not support wireless connections for consoles or streaming devices. This means that any device without an ethernet jack (like the Amazon Firestick, most Chromecasts, and some Rokus) will be unable to connect to the network.

Resolution: Items such as game consoles and streaming devices must connect via an Ethernet cable to the network wall jack (for help locating this jack, see Article 76742- Network Jacks).
Once connected, proceed with the following steps to register the device.

•    Go to the ITS homepage at
•    Click on the Students link on the left column
•    Click on Network & Internet
•    Click on Game Console Registration
This page will explain the information ITS needs to register devices including the type of device, the wired MAC address of the system, and the location of residence.
(Note: Wired MAC addresses may be found by viewing the internet settings on the console. For help locating the MAC address on game consoles, see article 77051 - Game Console MAC Address Location Guide.)
•    Click on Register your system and check current registrations.
•    Log in with your e-ID and password.
•    Fill out each field on the registration form and click on Submit Registration.

It may take up to 24 hours for the registration to complete.
