This document provides an overview of how to resolve the issue of a person receiving multiple copies of the same email.
Issue: User is receiving multiple copies of the same email.
Environment: Office 365/Outlook
Resolution: User is receiving multiple copies of the same email that is not coming from a list serv. The multiple copies are not Reply All responses to the original email, but separate copies of the same email. The email is being sorted by the To field instead of by Date which causes a separate Conversation to be created for each individual person the original email was sent to. To fix the issue, when the user is in their Inbox, above the list of messages is an option that says 'All' with a down arrow next to it. Click on the down arrow to expand the menu which has all the Filter and Sort options. In the Sort By section, change the sort criteria from 'To' to 'Date'. The user may need to refresh their Inbox for the new setting to take affect.
