Network Jacks in Residence Halls

This document provides an overview of locating and connecting to a network wall jack in the residence locations on campus.
All streaming devices and game consoles must connect by ethernet cable to the SIUE network.

To connect your device, connect one end of an ethernet cable to the device. Connect the other end of the cable to the network jack in your room.

Some rooms may not have a direct network jack panel but may have a box instead. Below are the two common boxes used in the residence halls:

To connect to the boxes, locate the ports on the bottom of the box and connect the ethernet cable:

*Note: If you have properly registered your device and connected via ethernet cable, your connection may be active even if you do not see indicator lights on your network jack or the port.
