Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Accessibility/Ally: Add Ally Help for Your Students

This article explains how to add an Ally Help module to your Blackboard Ultra course, providing students with resources to improve their own accessibility skills.

Adding the Ally Help Module to Your Blackboard Ultra Course

It's important to provide students with the available resources for accessibility built into Blackboard. It is highly recommended to add the Ally Help document to your course. This document explains how to dowload alternative formats, audio, translation, etc. This item is managed by the institution, so you cannot edit it. However, if any edits are made to the object by Blackboard administrators, it should automatically update the same object you added to your course.

Steps to Add the Ally Help Module:

  1. Log in to Blackboard Ultra.
  2. Navigate to the desired course.
  3. In the Course Content area, click the plus sign (+) where you want to add the Ally Help module.
  4. Select Learning Object Repository.

The create drop-down menu has many options, but the last option listed is the Learning Object Repository.

  5. Click the checkbox next to the object labeled "Use Ally to help you study!" (If you don't see it right away, use the search bar.)

A list of object managed by the institution has checkboxes next to each item. Click the check box and then click the "Insert Objects" button a the bottom to insert it into your course.

  6. Click the Insert Object(s) button.
  7. The item now appears on your Course Content page. Move it to the correct place, folder, or module.
  8. Double-check to make sure it is visible to students and that the correct content is copied over.

Beneath the title of the assignment is the student-visibility drop-down menu. Select visible to students so the object added is available to them.
