Question Banks

In the original version of Blackboard Learn, instructors could create Question Pools to collect questions and reuse them in multiple assessments and courses. In Blackboard Ultra, this feature is now called Question Banks.

Question Banks in Blackboard Ultra allow you to create a database of questions to use on multiple tests or forms. You can create new question banks or import existing ones to your course. 

Creating a New Question Set from the Question Bank

1. Click on Manage Banks on the Details and Actions side panel. 
   
   
   
   
2. Click the plus sign (+) to create a new Question Bank, import from a file, or import from an external source, such as a textbook. You can also select a previously created one from the list.
3. Enter a descriptive name for the question bank and type a brief description.
4. Click the plus sign (+) and select a question type (calculated, essay, fill-in-the-blank, hotspot, matching, multiple choice, true/false, and jumbled sentence questions). Alternatively, click Reuse questions to select questions used in other assessments from the same course.
5. Questions will save automatically. 

Important Considerations

• Changes made to a question within a question pool will be reflected in all assessments that use that question pool.
• If a question from a question pool is edited in a specific test, the edits will apply only to that instance of the question and won't change the original question in the question set or other tests using that question set.
• Deleting a question pool does not delete the individual questions from the question bank.
