Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Turnitin Assignments: Edit a Standard Turnitin Assignment

This article explains how to edit an existing Turnitin assignment in Blackboard Ultra, including changing settings like points possible, submission settings, and feedback release dates.

This article provides an overview of editing Standard or Standard Classic assignments created with Turnitin in Blackboard. Instructors can edit settings such as the points possible, submission settings, and feedback release dates. Note that some settings must be adjusted within Blackboard, such as the assignment due date. Editing a Turnitin Assignment

  1. Locate the Turnitin assignment you wish to edit in your Blackboard Ultra content area and click on the assignment title. These assignments are marked with the Turnitin logo (looks like a blue rectangle with an arrow in the bottom corner).

  2. Click the tile to open the assignment.
  3. The Turnitin LTI will launch. From there, click the 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Select Edit Settings from the drop-down menu.

  5. Modify the desired settings:
    • Instructions: Use the text editor toolbar to edit or add instructions to the assignment.
    • Feedback Release Date: Set the date when students can view their Turnitin feedback.
    • Max points: Set the maximum points students can earn on this assignment.
    • Template: Upload a template to be used for this assignment (optional).
    • Grading and feedback settings: Attach a rubric to use for grading and hide student details from other graders (optional).
    • Submission settings: Allow late submissions, resubmissions, or any file type.
    • Report settings: Determine settings and access to the Similarity Report.

  6. Click Save Assignment in the bottom right corner.

Adjust Turnitin Assignment Settings Through Blackboard

Some assignment settings (such as the title, start date, and due date) are grayed out and cannot be changed in the Turnitin Assignment panel. To configure these settings:

  1. Click the ellipsis (...) on the right corner of the Turnitin assignment tile.

  2. Select Edit. The assignment setting panel appears on the right side.
  3. Adjust the assignment settings.
    • Hover over the assignment title and click the pencil icon to edit the title.
    • Edit the due date and time.

  4. Click Save.
