Turnitin Assignment Types

Standard Assignment

Use a Standard assignment when students need to submit a completed file or document for similarity checking, grading, or feedback. Instructors benefit from enhanced similarity reports and grading/feedback tools. Instructors can also offer individual extensions with this assignment type. Learn how to create a Standard assignment.

Standard (Classic) Assignment

Create a Standard (Classic) assignment when students need to submit a completed file or document for similarity checking, grading, or feedback. Instructors can access the classic version of Similarity Reports and the Turnitin Feedback Studio. Select this assignment type to create a PeerMark assignment. Multipart Assignment

Use this when students need to complete a larger project in stages. A Multipart assignment connects two or more assignment parts into one larger assignment workflow. Each part represents a stage of the same project, such as an outline, annotated bibliography, first draft, or final draft. Turnitin will generate assignment links to each individual part of the assignment. The instructor can easily view and navigate between each part of the assignment while providing feedback. Copy Assignment from Existing Class

Use this feature to copy a Turnitin assignment used in a previous course. Be sure to uncheck the box next to "upgrade to new assignment workflow" if you want to copy the assignment in the Standard (Classic) format. Leave the box checked to change the copied assignment to a Standard Assignment. Learn how to copy assignments from an existing class.
