Blackboard (Faculty) - Course Availability - Make Course Unavailable

This document provides an overview of how to make a Blackboard course unavailable. As part of end-of-semester practices, course shells from the recently-completed semester are made unavailable to students once course grades are available in CougarNet. The information below describes the process if a course needs to manually be made unavailable.

To make your course unavailable to students: 

  1. Log into Blackboard and go into the course shell. 
  2. Click on the Lock in the upper right corner.

  3. The lock icon will close and your course will be unavailable to students. 


1.Under the Control Panel section within the Blackboard course, click on Customization to expand the options there.

2.Click on Properties.
3. In section 3 of that screen, where it says  "Make Course Available?" change the radio button from Yes to No.

4. Click Submit.
