Connect Smart TVs, Game Consoles, or Streaming Devices to Wi-Fi

This document provides an overview of how to connect smart TVs, game consoles, or streaming devices to Wi-Fi in University Housing.
Follow these steps to connect a smart TV, game console, or streaming device to SIUE Wi-Fi:
  1. Find the Wireless MAC address for your device.
  2. Register your MAC address on the network by going to "www.siue.edu/its/network/students/gameconsolereg.shtml"
  3. Once your registration has processed (generally within 5 minutes), you will be able to connect your device by choosing the "HousingRegisteredDevices" network.
What is a MAC address?
Your MAC address is a unique number assigned by the manufacturer to identify your device (MAC stands for Media Access Controller, it is not specific to Mac computers).
If the network was the Postal Service the MAC address would be your computer/console/phone's home address. Your MAC Address should look similar to this format: 00:0a:12:b3:c4:5d
How do I find my MAC address?
Each device will have slightly different steps for acquiring the MAC address. We have included links to Knowledge Base articles for specific devices. If your device is not listed you can check your device's manual for instructions or search Google for your specific device type plus the term "Wireless MAC Address."
