Connect Smart TVs, Game Consoles, or Streaming Devices to Wi-Fi

This guide explains how to connect smart TVs, game consoles, and streaming devices to Wi-Fi in University Housing at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE).

General Connection Process

Detailed Steps

Step 1: Find Your Device's MAC Address

A MAC (Media Access Control) address is a unique identifier for your device's network interface. It typically looks like this: 00:0a:12:b3:c4:5d

To find your device's MAC address, check your device's network settings or system information. Refer to the device-specific guides linked at the bottom of this article for detailed instructions.

Step 2: Register Your MAC Address

Allow up to 5 minutes for your registration to be processed.

Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi

  • On your device, go to Wi-Fi settings
  • Select the "HousingRegisteredDevices" network

Troubleshooting

  • If you can't connect after 5 minutes, try restarting your device
  • Ensure you've entered the correct Wireless MAC address (not the Wired/Ethernet MAC) during registration
  • If problems persist, contact SIUE ITS Help Desk (618) 650-5500 or help@siue.edu
