Housing Network (Ethernet) - How to Connect to the Campus Network

This guide explains how to connect computers to the campus network using ethernet connections in housing facilities.

Connecting to Housing Ethernet

When you connect an ethernet cable in housing facilities, your computer should automatically redirect you to the campus network registration page where you will need to log in with your e-ID and password to register your device.

Connection Process

When you connect your computer to the ethernet port in your residence hall room:

  1. Connect the ethernet cable to your computer's ethernet port
  2. Connect the other end to the wall ethernet jack in your room
  3. Open a web browser and navigate to netreg.net.siue.edu (if you are not automatically redirected there)
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to register your device
  5. Verify your connection by visiting any website

Troubleshooting Tips

If you continue to experience connection issues:

  • Verify the ethernet cable is securely connected at both ends
  • Try a different ethernet cable if available
  • Restart your computer after connecting the ethernet cable
