Remote Desktop Gateway (Mac OS) - Connect to On-Campus Computer with Remote Desktop Protocol
macOS users can configure the Microsoft Windows App to securely connect to an on-campus computer using the SIUE Remote Desktop Gateway.
Before You Start
You need an approved Remote Access request in SAR before you connect. See Remote Access - How to Request VPN or Remote Desktop at SIUE for the process.
Note: Ensure your MFA Authentication Method is set to "App-based authentication - Notification" (see: MFA - Change the Authenticator Verification Method before attempting your first connection.
Configure the Windows App Connection
- Download the Windows App from the Mac App Store.

- Open the Windows App on your Mac.
- Click the + icon and select Add PC to create a new connection.

- In the "PC name" field, enter
<eid>.desktop.siue.edu(Replace <eid> with your actual SIUE username). - In the "Gateway" section, select Add Gateway....

- Enter the "Gateway Name" as
desktop-siuecougars.msappproxy.netand click Add.
- Click the Add button to save your connection to the Windows App workspace.


Initiate the Remote Session
- Double-click the newly created PC connection in the Windows App.
- When prompted, enter your SIUE "Username" and "Password".

- Approve the login notification in your Microsoft Authenticator application.
- If a certificate warning appears, click Continue to finalize the connection.
