Faculty Computer Initiative (FCI)
Every full-time faculty member is eligible for a new computer every four years. Coordinate with your department or school administrative office to place your computer order. Learn more at: Faculty Computer Initiative.

E-ID
- Your E-ID is a unique identifier granting access to Blackboard, email, and other systems.
- Activate your E-ID at www.siue.edu/eid.
- Your E-ID password expires after 365 days; you'll be prompted to change it at your next sign-in.
- Access CougarNet for tasks like viewing pay stubs or submitting grades.
- Set up Self Service Password Reset.
- Enhance security with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA); learn how to set it up and explore authentication options.
Office 365
- Your Microsoft Office 365 account includes desktop and cloud versions of popular applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Access cloud storage with OneDrive.
- Install full desktop Office versions on up to 5 personal devices at m365.cloud.microsoft/apps by clicking Install Apps
Wi-Fi Network Connectivity
- Connect to the "Welcome to SIUE" open network for guest access.
- Use the secured eduroam network on campus; your connection profile stays active until you change your SIUE password or reset your network settings.
- Use eduroam at any participating institution worldwide.
Learning Spaces
- All general classrooms and most department classrooms are standardized on the same technology: Smart Classroom Training and Smart Classroom Resources
- Most University software is available across all labs with specialized software available in specific labs: Computer Lab Info and Computer Classroom Info

Academic Software
- Learning Management System: Blackboard is used in many ways for teaching and learning at SIUE.
- Communication: Microsoft Teams is the SIUE communication platform for collaborating, chat, calling, web conferencing, and document sharing.
- Media: Use YuJa for lecture capture and streaming media.
- Student Interaction: Use Starfish (advising and early warning) and Poll Everywhere (classroom response system).
- Faculty Interaction: Use Faculty Success (formerly Digital Measures) for scholarly publications and tenure activities.
- Software via vLab: SPSS, SAS, Mathematica, MatLab, Adobe Creative Cloud, and AutoDesk products are available remotely to you and your students from any PC or Mac through vLab.
Teaching, Learning, and Technology
- Work with the Instructional Design & Learning Technologies group for assistance with course design or teaching strategies for courses of all modalities, integrating technology into the online or face-to-face classroom, and ensuring content and courses are accessible and encourage student engagement. Visit the IDLT site to learn about the services the group provides.
- The IDLT Teaching Toolkit is an excellent resource for course planning and includes a fully accessible syllabus template, a course planning grid, and SIUE's course quality standards (OSCQR).
- IDLT and many other individuals and campus units partner with the Center for Faculty Development & Innovation to provide faculty development events and resources including workshops, seminars, panels, focus groups, and other activities and publications.
