ExamSoft Examplify (SIUE Students) - Complete Installation, Troubleshooting, and Support Guide
ExamSoft Examplify is the required exam software for many courses at SIUE. This comprehensive guide addresses installation procedures, common technical issues, and helps you determine who to contact for specific types of support.
Before Installation: Browser Requirements
Critical Requirement: You must have Google Chrome or Firefox set as your default browser before beginning the installation process.
Browser Compatibility
- Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox
- Unsupported browsers: Microsoft Edge, Safari
- Common error: If using Edge or Safari, you will receive an error indicating that your school account is not available

Contact the SIUE ITS Help Desk for assistance with downloading or updating web browsers:
- Chrome: Visit google.com/chrome and click "Download Chrome"
- Firefox: Visit mozilla.org/firefox and click "Download Firefox"
Installation Process
Step 1: Initial Login via Web Browser
Important: You must log in through the ExamSoft website first before using the Examplify application.
- Open Google Chrome or Firefox
- Navigate to the ExamSoft Login page
- Complete the SIUE SSO (Single Sign-On) login process using your SIUE email address and password
- Do not attempt to log in through the Examplify application first
Note: If you're having trouble with your email password, contact the SIUE ITS Help Desk for assistance with password resets.
Step 2: Handling Link Launch Issues
If you log into Examplify and see a screen with a link and options to "copy link" or "launch":
- Select "copy link"
- Paste the copied link into Chrome or Firefox
- Complete the SIUE SSO login when prompted
- Your Examplify application should now work properly
Device Compatibility
Checking Device Specifications
Before installation, verify your device meets the minimum requirements:

- Contact SIUE ITS Help Desk if you need assistance checking your device's technical specifications
Unsupported Devices
- Chromebooks: Not compatible with Examplify under any circumstances
- Surface Pro: May work only if running an operating system that meets Examplify's minimum specifications
Mac Users: Chip Selection
MacBook and MacBook Air users must select the correct chip type during installation:
- Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen
- Select "About This Mac"
- Look for the "Chip" field in the window that appears
- Note whether it shows "Apple" or "Intel" followed by model numbers
- Choose the corresponding option during Examplify installation
Important: Selecting the wrong chip type will prevent the software from downloading properly. For additional screenshots and guidance, refer to the ExamSoft installation guide.
Taking Exams in Examplify
Network Connection Setup
Before Your Exam:
- On campus: Connect to EDUROAM wifi for the most reliable exam download and upload experience
- EDUROAM setup help: Contact SIUE ITS Help Desk or visit the EDUROAM Setup Guide
- Download exams early: Download at least 24–48 hours before the exam
- Take a mock exam: Test your setup to ensure everything works correctly
During Your Exam:
- Wifi must be turned off or iPad set to airplane mode (with wifi disabled) to continue with a downloaded exam
- After download: You may need to manually disable wifi after downloading an exam for it to launch properly
- After completion: Re-enable wifi to upload your completed exam
Antivirus Software Requirements
Critical Step: Antivirus software must be disabled before taking exams.
- You will not be able to continue with your exam until antivirus is disabled

- Remember to re-enable your antivirus software after completing your exam
Pre-Exam Tips for Success
- Restart your device before the exam to avoid performance issues
- Connect to EDUROAM before launching Examplify
- Close unnecessary applications to free up system resources
- Ensure adequate battery life or keep your charger nearby
