Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Turnitin Assignments: Grading Turnitin Assignments with a Turnitin Rubric

This article outlines the steps for grading Turnitin assignments with a Turnitin Rubric within Blackboard Ultra.

Grading Turnitin Assignments with a Turnitin Rubric

When grading a Turnitin assignment in Blackboard Ultra with a rubric, you must first access the assignment settings and create a Turnitin rubric or deploy an existing rubric.

  1. Return to your course content area, and click on the Turnitin assignment you wish to grade.

  3. In the submission window, click the Rubrics tab in the top toolbar. The rubric will appear in a side panel.

  4. Assess the student's submission against each criterion in the rubric by clicking the appropriate level of achievement. The rubric will automatically calculate the score for that criterion. When you're done, click Apply to Grade to transfer the rubric score to the overall grade for the assignment.

  5. If you want to see the full rubric while you grade, click the arrow icon to the right of the rubric title to expand to full-screen mode. Select the appropriate boxes to score the student's paper and then click Apply to Grade to transfer the rubric score to the overall grade for the assignment.

  6. The grade will then be displayed in the grade box at the top of the assignment window and also in the assignment inbox row for that student. The grade will automatically sync to Blackboard. To finalize the grading process, ensure the grade in the Blackboard Gradebook matches the grade in Turnitin.

Posting the Grade in Blackboard Ultra

  1. Return to the Blackboard Ultra Gradebook and locate the grade column for the Turnitin assignment.
  2. Verify that the grades displayed in the Gradebook column match the grades assigned in Turnitin. If the grades do not match, manually adjust the grade in the Blackboard Gradebook to reflect the student's score.
  3. The final step is to post grades in Blackboard so grades are visible to students. Click the Turnitin assignment column header in the Blackboard Gradebook and choose Post.
