Zoom: Test Audio (Faculty & Students)
This document provides an overview of how to test audio in Zoom.
Zoom updates it's software on a regular basis with important
security items as well as updates to features. To make sure you have the
most current
version, check for updates.
Testing Audio
- Start a Zoom meeting of your own or join the Zoom Test Meeting.
- A pop-up will appear asking you to Join Audio Conference by Computer. (Don't see this pop-up window?)
- Click the Test Mic and Speakers link beneath the Join Audio... button.
- On the next screen, the audio test should run automatically. First, a pop-up window will prompt you to run a speaker test, asking if you can hear the ringtone. If you click "yes," you will be taken to the microphone test. If you click "no," Zoom will offer troubleshooting tips for your speakers. - Next, the audio test will prompt you to run a microphone test, asking you to speak and then listen for the recording to play back. If you click "yes," you are ready to go. If you click "no," Zoom will offer troubleshooting tips for your speakers. (You can also see the troubleshooting article linked below this one for more tips.)

* If you do not see the Join Audio pop-up window at start up, you can always get back to it by clicking the Join Audio button on the lower-left corner of your Zoom toolbar.
If you see a Mute button here instead of a Join Audio button, you can get back to the audio test by clicking the upward arrow next to the Mute button and choosing Test Speaker & Microphone from the list.
