Blackboard Ultra (Faculty) - Turnitin Assignments: Grade a Multipart Assignment

This article describes the Feedback Studio tools available when grading MultipartTurnitin assignments within Blackboard Ultra.

Accessing Turnitin Feedback Studio

This document provides an overview of how to access and grade student submissions on Turnitin assignments in Blackboard.

Turnitin Feedback Studio is an online tool used for grading papers, presentations, and other student work. A Similarity Report lists flagged content that matches other papers in the Turnitin paper database and other sources online. The Feedback Studio also allows for in-line comments typed directly on submitted work, and customized QuickMarks make providing quality feedback efficient.

Accessing Turnitin Feedback Studio

Turnitin Feedback Studio can only be accessed on assignments created with the integrated Turnitin Tool located in Blackboard's Content Market. Once assignments are submitted, papers can then be graded using Feedback Studio. These assignments have the Turnitin logo, which looks like a blue rectangle with an arrow in the bottom corner:

To access Feedback Studio for a Turnitin assignment in Blackboard Ultra:

  1. Navigate to a course in Blackboard Ultra.
  2. Click on the Turnitin assignment to review. This will open the Turnitin Assignment Inbox within Blackboard.
  3. Locate a student submission in the list and click the assignment title.
  4. This will open the Feedback Studio interface.

Using Turnitin Feedback Studio Tools (Multipart view)

  1. Open the Multipart Assignment in your course. Turnitin publishes each part as an individual assignment in Blackboard Ultra.

  2. Select the pencil icon to open the Turnitin Feedback Studio Tools.

  3. Switch between parts if needed to reference the student's prior submissions and track their writing progress.
  4. Add comments, inline text, or drag and drop QuickMarks onto the student's page.

     Use the QuickMarks tool to add comments to the submission.

  5. Use an attached rubric to score the work or type a numerical grade directly into the grade field at the top of the window. Changes save automatically.

    Add a rubric for grading.

  6. Repeat the grading process for any other parts of the multipart assignment.
  7. Grades will sync automatically to the Gradebook and become visible to students once the designated feedback release date passes.
