Zoom: Join Audio by Telephone (Faculty & Students)

This document provides an overview of joining Zoom audio with your telephone.
Zoom updates it's software on a regular basis with important security items as well as updates to features. To make sure you have the most current version, check for updates.
  1. Start a Zoom meeting.

  2. A pop-up will appear asking you to Join with Computer Audio. At the top of this window, click the Phone Call tab. (Don't see this pop-up window?)

  3. Two phone numbers will appear on the next screen. Use your phone to call one of these numbers. When prompted by the automated telephone message, enter the unique Meeting and Participant IDs that appear on your screen.

  4. This will allow you to interact within Zoom from your phone's microphone and speaker. You can close the pop-up window when you get sound through your phone. (Note: you can also use the Phone Call option when recording videos with Zoom. You might choose this option if your computer does not have a microphone.)

If you do not see the Join Audio pop-up window at start up, you can always get back to it by clicking the Join Audio button on the lower-left corner of your Zoom toolbar.

If you decide to switch to phone audio after a meeting has already started, click the upward arrow next to the Mute button and choose Switch to Phone Audio.
