Blackboard (Faculty) - Grade Center: Calculated Columns

This document provides an overview of calculated columns in the Grade Center.

In the Grade Center, calculate grades by using calculated columns. Calculated columns combine data from multiple columns to attain performance results.

You can use calculated columns to do the following:

  • Totals Column - Calculates the total grade based on cumulative points related to points earned. Follow these instructions: https://kb.siue.edu/53745
  • Weighted Grade Column - Weight grades by column, category, or both. Follow these instructions: https://kb.siue.edu/53746
  • Average Grade Column - Calculate the average grade of selected columns, such as average score of quizzes. Follow these instructions: https://kb.siue.edu/73433
  • Minimum / Maximum Grade Column - displays the minimum or maximum grade of selected columns.
Please remember if you are using any other column other than Total for your final grade, you need to set the new column as the external grade.
